Abstract

Transference-Focused Psychotherapy (TFP) is a manualized evidence-based treatment for borderline and other severe personality disorders that is based on psychoanalytic object relations theory. The treatment contracting/setting the frame, managing countertransference, and the interpretative process are three critical components of TFP. We provide vignettes to illustrate these techniques and data that support their role in facilitating treatment outcome.2013 APA, all rights reserved
